An Ordinance to establish a registration scheme for food importers and food distributors; to require the keeping of records by persons who acquire, capture, import or supply food; to enable food import controls to be imposed; to re-enact Part VA of the Public Health and Municipal services Ordinance; to make consequential and related amendments to that Ordinance and other Ordinances and to provide for incidental and connected matters.

Entry into force notes
This Ordinance enters into force on 1 August 2011 except for Part 3 and Division 1 of Part 2 which enter into force on 1 February 2012.
Abstract

The Ordinance provides for new food safety control measures, including a registration scheme for food importers and food distributors, and for record-keeping requirements for food traders to enhance food traceability and to take prompt actions when dealing with food incidents.
