The Ordinance, among other things, provides for the designation by the States of designated shellfish waters, i.e. coastal and brackish waters which, in its opinion, need protection or improvement in order to support shellfish life and growth. The States shall also designate sea waters and brackish waters from which live bivalve molluscs and other shellfish shall be taken in accordance with the requirements of this Ordinance.
