Abstract

These Regulations concern all advertisements of food products, manufactured, imported distributed, sold or used in Nigeria. No person shall advertise any food product unless it has been registered and approved by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC). Advertisement of any Breast Milk Substitute and Infant and Young children food is prohibited. The Regulations sets out various rule regarding claims in advertisement and place restrictions on information that may be provided. All advertisement materials shall be submitted along with an application, to the Agency. Claims for food products shall be substantiated before approval. All nutritional claims shall comply with the Agency’s Pre-packaged Food (Labelling) Regulation.
