These Regulations enter into force on 1 January 1991.
Abstract

These Regulations, consisting of eleven sections and two Schedules, establish requirements for preservatives used in food stuff. They specify the following provisions: no food preservative should be used other than a preservative specified in Schedule I; no person shall manufacture, import, sell, expose for sale, store or distribute any unauthorized food preservative; any food specified in Column I of Schedule II may have in or upon it a preservative of the description specified in the corresponding entry in Column II and in the proportion specifed in the corresponding entry in Column III. Schedules list Permitted Preservatives and their authorized proportion.
