Abstract

An Ordinance replacing the previous one of 1977 on the same subject to regulate the use of preservatives in foodstuffs. Annex 1 contains an exhaustive list of the substances allowed to avoid deterioration of foodstuffs. No additives are allowed in dairy products, meat, bread and foodstuffs for babies, as well as in processed, pastorized and sterilized foodstuffs. The Ordinance consists of 8 articles and 5 Annexes. Annex 1 lists the authorized preservatives. Annex 2 lays down the maximum quantity of preservatives to be used for certain foodstuffs. Annex 4 contains general criteria of purity. Annex 5 prescribes the examination of citrus fruits.
