This Act enters into force on 1 January 2020.
Abstract

The present Act constitutes the basic legal framework concerning foodstuffs in Greenland. It covers the production, processing and sale of foodstuffs. It does not cover the production of food in private households not the import and export of food, including trade in fish and fish products. The Act contains 56 Articles divided into the following Chapters: 1. Scope, purpose, definition and regulatory provisions; 2. Principles of production, storage, distribution and sale of food; 3. Risk analysis; 4. Food composition; 5. Sale and labelling of food; 6. Materials and articles intended for contact with food; 7. Traceability; 8. Responsibility for food; 9. Detergents, disinfectants and lubricants; 10. Registration, authorization, and self-monitoring of food companies; 11. Guidelines; 12. Fees; 13. Official controls; 14. Penalties; 15. Entry into force, repeals, and transitional provisions.
