The objectives of flora and fauna conservation include: to conserve Victoria's communities of flora and fauna; to manage potentially threatening processes; to ensure that any use of flora or fauna by humans is sustainable; and to ensure that the genetic diversity of flora and fauna is maintained. The Act provides for the establishment of the Scientific Advisory Committee (Part 2), the listing of species for conservation measures (Part 3), the management process (Part 4), conservation and control measures (Part 5), and for enforcement, offences and penalties.
