Abstract

This Measure of the Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR), for purposes of an effective Catch and Effort Reporting System, divides the calendar month into six reporting periods and requires each Contracting Party to obtain from each of its vessels its total target catch by species and its total by-catch reported by species or to the lowest taxonomic level possible (e.g. species or genus), and total days and hours fished for that period and shall transmit the aggregated catch and days and hours fished for its vessels. Data shall be transmitted to the Executive Secretary. A Contracting Party may authorise each of its vessels to report directly to the Secretariat. Data shall be collected and assessed in order to allow the Secretariat assess the total allowable catch is likely to be reached for that season and to take prescribed measures.
