Abstract

These Regulations prescribe the radio equipment to be carried on board all fishing vessels for the purpose of safety and distress communications and alerting. They implement the provisions of EU Council Directive 97/70/EC in relation to such equipment to be carried on board fishing vessels of 24 metres and over. The Regulations are divided into 5 Parts: general (1); Class I fishing vessel requirements (2); Class II fishing vessel requirements (3); Class III fishing vessel requirements (4); Class VI fishing vessel requirements (V). Classes of fishing vessels are described in regulation 1.
