Effective conservation and management in most cases will require concerted U.S. and international action. The FMP may serve as a vehicle for fulfilling the West Coast portion of U.S. obligations under international conservation agreements, if domestic U.S. implementing legislation authorizes its use. It takes into account, among other things, the FAO adopted International Plan of Action for the Conservation and Management of Sharks. The FMP also concerns incidental take of marine mammals, sea turtles, or sea birds during fishing operations. Full text English Website www.pcouncil.org
