They prohibit catching, mutilating killing, sale, export, etc. of sharks and rays and require unintentionally caught animals to immediately be released into the fishery waters. Fishing of sharks (except for some protected species) is allowed for private subsistence by local fishermen. Sharks and rays may be caught for scientific research purposes.
