Abstract

In view of the international transport of fish, fish products and beneficial organisms, to prevent the entry and spread of pathogens within Bangladesh and to protect the health of fish, an act has been made to make provisions for the prevention of contamination, import control and related ancillary matters of fish and fish products. The importation of any fish, fish product or beneficial microorganism or the cause of infection of human disease under the conditions specified in the import policy order made under the Government Imports and Exports (Control) Act, 1950 (Act No. XXXIX of 1950), shall be prohibited, limited or Can be controlled in some other way. For the purposes of this Act, the Fisheries Control Officer shall exercise the power vested in the Customs Officer in the Customs Act, 1969 (Act No. IV of 1969) to impose restrictions on the importation of any fish, fishery products or beneficial organisms and packing materials.
