Abstract

The Fisheries Plan 2010-19 development objective corresponds to the immediate objective of the Action Plan for Poverty Reduction (PARPA II 2006-09) and continues in the new PARPA formulation process. This Plan leads efforts towards the final goal of reducing poverty in Mozambique. The formulation of PARPA is guided by the strategic objectives set out in the Government's Five-Year Plan for 2010-2014. Its priorities will be to promote the growth of national income per capita, to ensure the development support by the international community, to ensure the redistribution of income, especially to the poorest people. The PDP II should therefore pursue the objectives set out in the Five-Year Government Programme 2010-14. PARP states that: fisheries sector provides more benefits to the country in relation to its potentialities through: enhancing contribution sector in improving food security and nutrition in fish for the population; improving the living conditions of artisanal fishing communities and small-scale fish farmers; increasing the contribution of industrial fisheries and aquaculture and small-scale to achieve the national goals of economic and social development, and increasing the balance of payments; in the framework of sector-government better able to pursue these purposes and a sustainability of fisheries resources in particular and aquatic ecosystems in general.
