This Ordinance is enforced as of 11 October 2021.

Abstract

This Ordinance provides fisheries limits in all water adjacent to St. Helena extending up to the seaward limits of the exclusive economic zone. The text provides on setting up an advisory board that is in charge to provide technical advice on matters listed in Part 3 of the text. The Ordinance further lays out provisions for fisheries officer and relevant responsibilities. Fishing license requirements is referred in Part 5 and in Part 6 prohibited methods of fishing, total allowable catch limits, and fishing control notices are listed. The text further covers the issues for restrictions relating to spear fishing and fishing with scuba equipment; transhipment; enforcement; appeals against refusal of license; and offences. The text consists of 84 Articles divided into 12 Parts and has one schedule.
