Abstract

This Order aims to reduce and eliminate Illegal Unreported and Unregulated Fishing (IUU) in the country and to facilitate cooperation between different governmental agencies for sustainable fisheries and marine biodiversity conservation. The Order further provides for coordination with the USAID Fish Right Program to develop and refine the draft version of the Philippine IUU Fishing Index and Threat Assessment Tool, to institutionalize the Philippine IUU Fishing Index and to make available the results of the assessment to policy makers, planners and stakeholders during the years of 2021 and 2022. The text provides for cooperation between different governmental agencies including the Regional Fisheries Office and Provincial Fisheries Office who shall work with Central Office and USAID Fish Right Program to support the finalisation, adoption and roll-out of the Philippine IUU Fishing Index and Threat Assessment Tool.
