Abstract

This Subpart of Part 648 of Title 50 of the Federal Code of Regulations provides with respect to management of the North East (NE) Multispecies and Monkfish Fisheries. All vessels must comply with specified minimum mesh size, gear and methods of fishing requirements, unless otherwise exempted or prohibited. The Regulations also concern NE multispecies closed areas and measures to protect Essential Fish Habitat (EFH). Other management and conservation measures concern closed seasons, fish size, gear-marking requirements and gear restrictions, access to fisheries, landing requirements, etc. No NE multispecies fishing vessel, or person on such vessel, may enter, fish in, or be in the U.S./Canada Resource Sharing Understanding Management Areas (U.S./Canada Management Areas), as defined in paragraph (a)(1) of this section, unless the vessel is fishing in accordance with the restrictions and conditions as specified.
