Abstract

This Subpart of Part 648 of Title 50 of the Federal Code of Regulations provides with respect to management measures for the surfclam and ocean quahog fisheries. The Regulations prescribe, among other things: Annual Catch Limits (ACLs), Annual Catch Targets (ACTs), Accountability Measures, annual individual allocations. They also provide with respect to, among other things, areas closed to fisheries because of environmental degradation and adjustments to management measures. Certain areas are closed to all surfclam and ocean quahog fishing because of adverse environmental conditions. These areas will remain closed until the Regional Administrator determines that the adverse environmental conditions no longer exist.
