This notice enters into force on the day after the date of its notification in the Gazette.
Abstract

This notice is made under the Fisheries (Kaimoana Customary Fishing) Regulations 1998. The notice relates to a customary food gathering area/rohe moana of the tangata whenua represented by Ngāti Wakarara and Ngāti Hau. The area/rohe moana is an area from Mawhai Point to Marau Point on the East Cape, and extends approximately 5 nautical miles offshore. Notice is given of the appointment of 2 Tāngata Kaitiaki/Tiaki for the area/rohe moana. The Minister for Primary Industries made the appointment at the request of Ngāti Wakarara and Ngāti Hau. The powers of Tāngata Kaitiaki/Tiaki are set out in the regulations.
