Abstract

This Act aims at rationalizing prawn fishing in the Gulf of St. Vincent and Investigator Strait. For this purpose, the Act authorizes the Minister to cancel licences in excess to ten for prawn fishing in the area and provides for compensation, the Minister has also the power to purchase the vessels and equipment of former licensees. The Act also provides for charges on licences.
