Abstract

The Regulations restrict demersal trawling for fish and shrimp in defined areas. Subject to this Regulation, demersal (bottom) trawling for fish or shrimp is permitted in the territorial waters of the North Coast at a distance outside off two nautical miles from that coast defined in the Schedule (reg.3, comma 1). Comma 2 of regulation 3 specifies mesh sizes of trawl nets or chafing gear. No trawling is permitted in the East Coast, defined in the Schedule. Regulation 5 places restrictions on trawling off the South Coast, whereas regulation 6 restricts trawling with vessels of a certain kind in the Gulf of Paria. (10 regulations and Schedule)
