"Fish" shall not include mammals, reptiles and frogs. "Fish products" shall include any products derived from fish intended for human consumption or for animal feeding. An importer shall be registered with the (Permanent Secretary of) the Ministry of Fisheries. Criteria for registration are specified in the First Schedule. No person shall import any fish or fish product unless he or she complies with the general requirements specified in the Second Schedule. The consignment of fish or fish product intended for import shall be produced, caught, handled, processed, stored, packaged and transported under sanitary and hygienic standards: (a) specified in the Fourth Schedule (which includes also hygienic and storage requirements for fish handling on board of vessels); (b) as specified in the Codex Alimentarius – General Principles of Food Hygiene and the Code of Practice for Fish and Fishery Products; or (c) as may be set out by the Permanent Secretary. Consignments of fish shall be accompanied by a health certificate and packaged and labelled (including information for purposes of traceability) as specified in the Fifth Schedule.
