Country/Territory Brunei Darussalam Document type Legislation Date 2014 Source FAO, FAOLEX Subject Fisheries Keyword Authorization/permit Marine fisheries Marine protected areas Offences/penalties Protection of environment Protection of species Seasons Fishery management and conservation Geographical area Asia, Asia and the Pacific, South-Eastern Asia Abstract This Order consisting of 5 sections amends the principal Order as follows (i) by adding Section 9(3) banning the applications for licenses concerning specific areas, species, or ecological communities referred to in fisheries plans and periods determined on the Official Gazette; (ii) by adding Section 26A relating to the duties to prevent or minimize harm to the environment in marine reserves or marine parks, meaning by harm any adverse effects and both direct or indirect harms, as detailed in the Section; (iii) adding paragraphs 27(ca) and (cb) that punish within marine reserves and marine parks to undertake photography, filming or sound recording of aquatic life, and the construction or laying of lines, cables, pipelines, etc.; (iv) by inserting new Section 56A on the presumption of an offense relating to marine reserve or marine park in case specific equipment are found in vessels.
