Abstract

This Act amends the Fisheries Act 1972 by: redefining “commercial licence” and “recreational licence”; by adding the definition of “fish aggregation area”; and in provisions concerning the power of the Minister to declare protected areas within exclusive economic zone and to prohibit taking of certain fish and use of certain methods of taking fish. Furthermore, the Act inserts a new section in the principal Act on the declaration of fish aggregation areas by the Minister for the conservation and protection of fish in the exclusive economic zone. The Minister may prohibit fishing also in such area.
