Abstract

This Chapter of Division 4 of the Fish and Game Code of Californiaconcerns the protection of a category of mammale know as "fully protected mammal" (as specified in this Chapter). Except as provided in this section and other specified provisions of the Code, a fully protected mammal may not be taken or possessed at any time. The Department of Fish and Game may authorize the taking of a fully protected mammal for necessary scientific research, including efforts to recover fully protected, threatened, or endangered species. A legally imported fully protected mammal may be possessed under a permit issued by the Department.
