The commission shall establish a list of endangered species and a list of threatened species. The Fish and Game Commission shall add or remove species from either list if it finds, upon the receipt of sufficient scientific information pursuant to this article, that the action is warranted. The Department of Fish and Game shall recommend, and the commission shall adopt, criteria for determining if a species is endangered or threatened. Interested parties may lodge a petition so have a species listed. The Act sets out rules for the taking, importation, exportation, or sale of an endangered species or a threatened species.
