Abstract

This Chapter of Division 3 of the Fish and Game Code of California, known as the Marine Life Protection Act, concerns redesignation of the Marine protected area (MPA) system of California to increase its coherence and its effectiveness at protecting the state’s marine life, habitat, and ecosystems and requires the Fish and Game Commission to adopt a master plan that guides the adoption and implementation of the Marine Life Protection Program. the master plan shall include various recommendations as specified. The Commission may regulate commercial and recreational fishing and any other taking of marine species in MPAs.
