Abstract

These Regulations set up a detailed control and monitoring system for the manufacture and sale of fish and fish products. These new rules relative to fish marketing are necessary for the purpose of giving effect to provisions of a number of European Community Directives and in particular Council Directive 91/493/EEC. These Directives relate to quality control of fish and fish products that are sold to the EEC. The Regulations in part concern the functions and powers of the Competent Authority appointed under these Regulations by the Governor and which shall be accredited to the European Union. Requirements also concern factory vessels and fish auction establishments.
