Abstract

This Strategy, as in accordance with the provisions of the Serbian Law on fire protection, sets specific planning issues and objectives as regards the fire protection. The general goal of this fire protection Strategy for the period 2012-2017 is the improvement of fire protection by preventive action through undertaking and implementing security measures for all entities and through informing of citizens. Main goal of the Strategy is to create new and improve the existing conditions for overall economic and social progress based on long-term improvement of protection from fire. Based on that, starting from the concept of sustainable development, the Strategy also has the purpose of introduction of fire protection in all other national strategic plans, and thus the integration of fire protection in all strategic areas, including important provisions regarding forest fires (also specific objective 3: Improved meteorological monitoring and forecasting of meteorological conditions for the occurrence of fires in forest areas).
