Also discussed are principles for the treatment of specific waste material streams, and remediation of confirmed contaminated sites. The plan also includes selected waste streams, in which sources of waste are described. Included are wood waste and residues from the treatment and processing of timber, where specific volumes of timber waste are documented. Regarding food waste, there is an action area under the waste prevention programme 2017, which includes consideration of package of measures under food production processing and trade, welfare organisations, consumption away from home and private households. In regard to the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, - a sustainable management of foodstuffs in the areas of agriculture, production and trade is encouraged; - the coordination of supply and demand in connection with the transfer of foodstuffs is promoted and the infrastructure for buffering between supply and demand extended; - sustainable management of foodstuffs in commercial kitchens and in the hospitality industry is encouraged; - the awareness of the environmental impacts associated with food consumption and of the value of the foodstuffs or the avoidable food waste is to raise the awareness that foodstuffs may be enjoyed even after the best before date is to be disseminated; - And the data uncertainties associated with the avoidable food waste are to be reduced. The Austrian Federal Waste Management Plan is conducted at least every six years by the Federal Minister for Agriculture and Forestry, Environment and Water Management and is published via internet.
