This Federal Law enters into force six months after its official publication.
Abstract

This Federal Law establishes the technical standards that shall apply to the processing, storage, transportation, trade and utilization of for vegetable oils and animal fats, including fish oil and marine animal oil. The purpose of this Law shall be to protect human life and health, prevent fraud and provide reliable information on the place of origin and consumer properties of vegetable oils and animal fats. This Federal Law classifies alimentary vegetable oils and animal fats and establishes their safety requirements, including safety, packaging and labelling. Technological processes used to manufacture vegetable oils and animal fats shall comply with veterinary requirements, and producers shall ensure that the products comply with safety requirements. Labels must contain the following information: (a) manufacturing date; (b) storage temperature; (c) weight fraction of fat; and (d) weight fraction of milk fat.
