This Law enters into force a day after the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
Abstract

This Law aims to protect the new plant varieties. The provisions of this Law are applicable to the varieties specified in a list published by the Ministry of Environment and Water. The Ministry shall create a Register for the regulation of the protection of new plant varieties. The Law specifies the conditions for granting the plant breeders’ rights. It defines the terms of protection, the plant categories, the right of category registration, the priority right and the documentation needed, the plant breeding jurisprudence. The Law sets forth the label category procedures. Objection, judicial appeal, sanctions and fees are also provided in the text.
