Article 2 specifies that the Agency is, inter alia, responsible, for the: 1) preparation of scientific reports, expert opinions on issues connected with food safety, consumer protection, human health, including aspects on nutrition and dietary prevention, as well as tobacco products, cosmetics, pesticides and biocides, animal feed and feed additives, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, which are intended for use in animals, including their manufacture and transport; 2) scientific advice to the Federal Ministry and other federal agencies dealing with food safety; 3) cooperation with institutes of the European Community and in particular the European Authority for Food Safety, as well as with other scientific national and international bodies.
