Abstract This Scheme amends the Farm Woodland Scheme 1988. The principal Scheme complies with Council Regulation (EC) No. 2080/92 instituting a Community aid scheme for forestry measures in agriculture. This Scheme removes the requirements for participants in the Scheme to continue to run an agricultural business, and for successors to first applicants to run an agricultural business (para. 2). The Scheme also amends the rates of grant payable according to use of the land prior to conversion to woodland. The amount of payment depends upon the class of land (arable; improved grassland; land in agricultural use) and the quality of the land before conversion.
