Abstract

This Act addresses the consequences of the coronavirus outbreak, and introduces a package of measures including paid sick leave, insurance coverage of coronavirus testing, nutrition assistance, and unemployment benefits. The Act provides additional funds for, amongst others, the Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children” (WIC). Children who would normally receive free or reduced price school meals under the National School Lunch Act at the school, will receive assistance pursuant to a state agency plan approved by the Secretary of Agriculture. The Secretary of Agriculture may purchase commodities for emergency distribution in any area of the U.S. during a public health emergency designation.
