Abstract This Act sets forth provisions on the establishment, organization, duties and authorities of the Fair Trading Commission, as well as funds and financial resources of the Commission. This Act aims at ensuring consumer protection by promoting efficiency and competitiveness amongst and improving the standards of service and the quality of goods and services supplied by. Persons engaged in trade or commerce and consumers shall be informed by the Commission in general regarding its functions and authorities as are set out in this Act, in the Utilities Regulation Act, and in any laws related to consumer protection and fair competition. Furthermore in case of non-compliance with the provisions of this Act or the order of the Commission, this Act sets forth provisions on inspection and investigation procedures, civil liability, offences and penalties.
