Entry into force notes
Parts IV, V and VI of this Act enter into force on 26 April 2007 and Part II of this Act enter into force on 31 January 2014.
Abstract

This Act lays down provisions on the establishment, powers and functions of the Fair Trading Commission, and offences against the Commission, such as destruction of documents and obstruction of investigation in Part II; mergers, prohibition of anti-competitive agreements or practices and the conditions for abusing monopoly power in Part III; constitution of the Commission in Part IV; the funds and resources, audit and reports of the Commission in Part VI; the jurisdiction and powers of the Court in Part VII; referrals to the Community Competition Commission where an inquiry or investigation by the Commission involves anti-competitive conduct in another Member State, which has the effect of lessening competition in Trinidad and Tobago in Part VIII; and miscellaneous provisions in Part IX. The Schedule of this Act sets out the template for the Notice of Intention to initiate an investigation.
