Abstract

This Executive Order of the President of Liberia aims at promoting transparency, sharing of benefits and public participation in forest and natural resource management in Liberia. The Order requires Government bodies to adopt and implement recommendations of the Forest Concession Review Committee as required by a UN Security Council Resolution. The Order annuls all forest concessions and empowers the Forest Development Authority to grant or allocate future forest concessions. A Forestry Reform Monitoring Committee is established under the guidance of the Authority. The Committee shall monitor the formulation, development and implementation of conditions for the granting of forestry concessions.
