This Executive Decree enters into force on the day of its publication.
Abstract

This Executive Decree approves the Regulation of the Climate Change Office of the Ministry of the Environment (GABAC), as a direct executive ministerial service, responsible for the implementation of the National Programme for Climate Change and integration of policies leading to sustainability in the field of emission reduction and programmes and projects to offset greenhouse gas emissions. The Regulation, consisting of 10 articles divided into three Chapters and two Annexes, establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of the above mentioned Office, entitled to perform the following activities: a) Coordinate and ensure the implementation of plans and projects on mitigation of climate change and adaptation; b) Promote activities to reduce emissions, as well as sustainability in order to stabilize greenhouse gases; c) Promote activities to prevent drought and desertification by reducing emissions; d) Identify and coordinate viable projects within the framework of the clean development mechanism; e) Promote Angola's participation in the World Carbon Market; f) Promote the adaptation and mitigation programmes with a view to integrating the phenomena of drought, disasters and environmental preservation; g) Promote the development of actions to control and reduce greenhouse gas emissions; h) Carry out activities related to the implementation of the Convention on Climate Change; etc.
