This Executive Decree enters into force on the day of its publication.
Abstract

This Executive Decree approves the Regulation of the National Directorate for Prevention and Assessment of Environmental Impacts within the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Environment. The Directorate has the following attributions: a) Promote the identification and prevention of the impacts of human activity on the environment; b) Participate in the assessment and management of natural and industrial risks; e) Carry out the assessment of environmental impacts in projects and undertakings of public and private entities; d) Guide and monitor environmental audits and carry out the assessment of environmental impacts in projects and undertakings of public and private entities; e) Proceed with the environmental licensing of projects whose activity significantly interferes with the environment, in accordance with the legislation in force; j) Guide the application of preventive measures aimed at mitigating the risks diagnosed in the assessment of environmental impacts and ensuring the application of technological alternatives; g) Analyze and issue technical opinions on the studies of environmental impacts that are submitted; h) Carry out environmental impact studies and actions to analyze and prevent environmental risks; j) Encourage public consultation on studies of environmental impacts through the participation of civil society and the scientific community; k) Participate in environmental judicial expertise whenever requested, etc.
