Abstract This Executive Decree approves the Regulation of the National Direction of Mines within the Ministry of Geology, Mining and Industry. This Regulation, consisting of 3 Chapters and 1 Annex, establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of the above mentioned institution, entitled to: control the implementation of the policies on mines and promote the rational and sustainable exploitation of mineral resources; to coordinate, supervise any activity related to the exploitation, benefit, transport and trade of mineral resources within the National territory; to control the normal functioning of the authorized agencies to develop any mining activity, carry out inspection on the fulfilment of technical norms applicable to the mining industry to the environment; to mining projects, creating adequate conditions for attracting investments; carry out controls on the diversified sustainable exploitation of mining resources, etc. Full text Portuguese Website www.legis-palop.org
