Water suppliers supplying less than 10 cubic metres of water a day as an average or serving fewer than 50 persons as part of a commercial or public activity shall only be subject to Regulations, 4, 5, 6, 7, 13, 17 and 18, and the relevant Schedules. As general obligation the Regulations establish that a water supplier shall ensure that all water intended for human consumption supplied by them is wholesome and clean, does not present a risk to human health, and meets the requirements of these Regulations. The Regulations also require mandatory assessment of water leakage; specific parametric values for the quality standards (Regulation 6 and Schedule 1) and point of compliance; duties in relation to water on premises. Part 3 concerns the risk; the supply, treatment and distribution of water intended for human consumption shall be subject to the application of a risk-based approach that covers the whole supply chain from the catchment area, abstraction, treatment, storage and distribution of water to the point of compliance specified in Regulation; risk assessment and risk management of catchment areas for abstraction points of water intended for human consumption shall be carried out following requirements under Regulation 10; risk assessment and risk management of supply system finds discipline under Regulation 11; risk Assessment of domestic distribution systems.
