They apply to calves confined for rearing and fattening. They specify the accommodation requirements, define responsibilities of care and welfare, require treatment certificates in the case of imports from third countries, lay down rules regarding appropriate diet and inspection of the calves to ensure their health and welfare, define powers of authorized officers and prescribe offences.
