Abstract

These Regulations implement Directive 65/66/EEC as amended by Council Directives 67/428/EEC, 76/463/EEC and 86/604/EEC. They prescribe specific purity criteria for preservatives for use in foodstuffs for human consumption. No preservative shall be manufactured, prepared, imported, distributed or sold in the State unless such preservative complies with the specific purity criteria applicable to that preservative in the specified Council Directives. However, these Regulations shall not apply to preservatives for export or re-export. These Regulations shall be enforced in the functional area of a health board by the health board.
