Abstract

These Regulations amend the European Communities (Food and Feed Hygiene) 2005 to give legal effect to Regulation (EC) No. 178/2002 of the European Parliament and of the Council, to Commission Regulations (EC) No. 2073/2005, 2074/2005, 2075/2005 and 2076/2005. Regulation (EC) No. 178/2002 of the European Parliament and of the Council lays down the general principles and requirements of food law, establishes the European Food Safety Authority and lays down procedures in matters of food safety as far as general principles and requirements of food law are concerned. The Regulations form part of the overall food and feed safety legislation and cover animal feed, microbiological criteria, specific implementing measures for certain products, controls for Trichinella in food of animal origin and transitional arrangements for the introduction of aspects of food and feed hygiene legislation.
