Abstract

These Regulations provide for the designation by the Environmental Management Authority of plants or animals as 'Environmentally Sensitive Species' (ESS), being any species of living plants or animals designated as environmentally sensitive species under section 41 of the Environmental Management Act, 2000. Guidelines for such designation are given in regulation 3. Certain activities may be prohibited or regulated for the protection of ESS, and a Notice to that effect shall be in the form set out in Schedule IV. Procedures of designation are set out in regulation 5.
