An ESA shall be designated for purposes of protection of habitats or if required by international obligations of Trinidad and Tobago. Guidelines for such designation are laid down in regulation 3 and Schedule II. A designation notice shall include the information specified in regulation 4 and shall be in the form set out in Schedule IV. Procedures of designation are set out in regulation 5.
