Abstract The purpose of this Federal Act, consisting of 53 articles, is to promote environmental protection by providing measures governing the treatment of waste water, the improvement of water management, the efficient use of energy and resources, the abatement and reduction of air pollution, climate-relevant pollutants, noise and industrial waste; by providing material and immaterial services for measures abroad aimed at implementing national, European or international environmental and climate protection goals; by securing and remediating contaminated sites.
