Abstract The Act ensures to safeguard the environment so that society can develop on a sustainable basis in accordance with ethical values and respect for people's living conditions and preservation of animal and plant life. It applies to the manufacture, use and sale of genetically modified organisms in marine waters and fishing, and the approval thereof by the Minister of Environment after research carried out in approved laboratories.
