Illegally imported or exported animals, plants or articles may be forfeited. The Minister may make modifications to the Schedule so as to reflect any amendment to the CITES Convention or after consultation with a body or bodies to be established under section 6 for purposes of advising the Minister on importation or exportation of endangered animals or plants. Section 5 provides for restriction of live animals after importation so as to avoid commercial exploitation. Offences and penalties are prescribed. Full text English
