Country/Territory Romania Document type Regulation Date 2008 (2016) Source FAO, FAOLEX Subject Fisheries Keyword Fishery management and conservation Inland fisheries Marine fisheries Aquaculture Fish products Fishing vessel Processing/handling Geographical area Black Sea, Eastern Europe, Europe, Europe and Central Asia, European Union Countries Abstract This Emergency Ordinance regulates the protection, conservation, administration and exploitation of living aquatic resources, aquaculture activity, processing and marketing of the products obtained from fishing and aquaculture, when these activities are carried out: (a) on the territory of Romania; (b) in the waters under the national jurisdiction of Romania by vessels under the Romanian flag or under the flag of other states; (b) the protection, conservation and exploitation of living aquatic resources; (c) structural policy arrangements; (d) management of fishing fleet capacity; (e) aquaculture; (f) processing of products obtained from fishing and aquaculture; (g) organization of the fishery products market; (h) scientific research in the fishery field; (i) control and compliance with legislation in the field; (j) international relations in the field of fishing and aquaculture; (k) responsibilities and sanctions; (l) concession/leasing in the fisheries sector; (m) ensuring, from fishing and aquaculture, food resources represented by fish and other aquatic species; (n) supporting producer organizations for the sustainable development of fishing and aquaculture activities; (o) promoting a policy favorable to the inclusion and balanced development of fishing areas; and (p) implementation of the integrated maritime policy of the European Union in a complementary manner to the cohesion policy and the common fisheries policy.
